Smoke, paintings by Patricia “Murph” Murphy
April 3 through May 9, 2009
Opening Reception: First Friday, April 3, 6-9pm
Open First Friday, May 2, 6-9pm
Patricia Murphy’s paintings for her show entitled “Smoke” continue her exploration of strong, yet modest, women -- from the Bolivian women wrestlers known as Cholitas to the overlooked street vendor.
The paintings seemingly capture a moment in time just as it fades from our view, effectively examining impermanence, loss, and the ephemeral. As a painter, Patricia is interested in the relationship between muted color, light and texture.
